Many families have their photos taken every year- me included! It’s a great tradition to have. But there are also lots of things that happen in between those, and those can be important to document as well. I’ve added 2 new options for mini sessions- one focused on children and milestones, and the other for a parent and child session. We often think to do milestone sessions for babies, when they start sitting or walking, or turn one. But older kids change so much in a year also! A toddler milestone session is the perfect addition to your yearly family photos.

I love the idea of documenting every birthday as a way to have a yearly comparison. You can see Lacey’s first birthday session too, for example. These sessions are very child focused. I don’t ask kids to pose- though I may make up games to get them to look into the camera. I follow them around, and we do what they like to do! The sessions are also pretty short. That keeps them lower stress for everyone, and more fun!

This session perfectly represents Lacey right at this age. She loves dressing up, but she is also a bit of a daredevil! She’s not perfect with every hair in place- because really, when is that true for a 2 year old? She is wearing a dress and flower crown from Ava’s Flower Crowns– both from my client closet. But she *really* wanted to climb these rocks! The little rock she called the “baby rock” and was telling me all about it as she went. Even in a brief session I love the variety you can get- a smile as she conquered climbing the big rock, a few glances back at mom to double check the situation was ok, a serious moment of contemplation of what to do next- and then she was off again!
