Cape Cod with Mom & Alicia

We planned this a long time ago- we wanted to take mom on a trip for her birthday and Mother’s Day, and decided on Hyannis. We all met at Alicia’s house, and drove up- mom didn’t know where we were going, we told her shortly before we got there (when she would’ve figured it out anyway). We had booked a sunset sail on a sailboat, and the rest of the day was hers to choose. We had lunch at Spanky’s Clam shack, we walked on Kalmus beach and saw lots of birds, and Alicia collected shells. We did some shopping on Main St., and had dinner at the Black Cat, before finishing with the sailboat ride. It was a long day, but so much fun!

Ames Nowell State Park 4/30/2011

In my quest to photograph as many parks/sanctuaries in MA as possible this summer, I was planning on going to the sanctuary in either Moose Hill or Marshville- but it rained most of the day. So when it let up for a while later in the day, I decided to go to the state park. It’s in Abington, but less than 10 minutes from us. It reminded me a lot of Gay City State Park as a kid- lots of woods around the lake, even the bridge looks similar.

Fiddlehead! They always remind me of Stephen King's The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, now.
