Brockton City Hall. Took this from my car, I always feel a little weird in downtown Brockton taking pictures of buildings, and the cops (this is right next to the police station) always seem kind of suspicious. But I saw the colors with the sunset and knew I had to get a shot to HDR it.

Project 365 Day 21
January 21st, 2012 admin It’s been snowing all day. I thought I’d stop at DW and see if I could get some snow shots. Didn’t turn out well- for one, the roads weren’t plowed there so they closed the gate. I’m hoping that’s just during the storm and not all winter. Since the snow was still coming down, the visibility was pretty bad so it didn’t make for very good shots. Oh well, I’m sure we’ll get plenty more snow! It’d be perfect if I could go right after the snow stopped. I chose the gloves for my official shot for today, but I’m also adding the only shot that actual came out well. I do want to have a nice collection of season shots from DW so hopefully I can get there so more in the snow.

Project 365 Day 3

This is the lens cover I made. Not very pretty :D But re-usable.

I cut out a square in the middle, that way I can make different shapes, and interchange them by taping them over the hole. Also I can use those nify crafting hole punches this way, since they wouldn't reach far enough in otherwise.

The cover just slips onto the camera- since I was using a zoom I didn't want it taped on since I had to spin it every time I zoomed

This was when I was trying with the 35mm. This is what it looked like without the shaped cutout.

Excuse my deformed hearts, its really hard to cut precisely that small! I was having trouble with the 35mm though, you can see the vignetting because the cutout was a little too big. It needs to be really small, the size in mm needs to be less than zoom length/aperture, so about 20 mm :/

So I gave up and tried my zoom. I was zoomed in to 300mm, with an aperture around 5.5, so I could use a lot bigger shapes. This is to give you an idea what I was photographing.

The way the lights are aren't great for this, since you can see the blobs of color showing through from the other side of the blinds.

I think this is my favorite. Not perfect, but more than I expected for a first try.

2011 Family Cruise Photos & Video
November 29th, 2011 admin I wanted to compile all the photos and videos in one place.
