Heidi & Jason’s Visit

We went down to CT again (been down quite a bit this summer!) when Heidi & Jason were up to visit, and had a cookout at Dad & Di’s house. Great weather and lots of fun!

Took some pictures of Kristen’s puppy Brody while he frolicked in the yard.

The kids swam in the pool, of course, while we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine, watched the Sox game, then later roasted marshmallows.

Then, while we were roasting marshmallows, Kristen was writing in the air with her stick – which made me think we could try some “light painting”. I set my camera on slow shutter speed with a tripod, then let her try to write and see if we could spell out words. Turns out actually writing words is hard, so we kept getting simpler until she was just writing “Hi”, and even then, it was backwards because she couldn’t write it backwards without seeing it! Then we tried shapes, which actually worked pretty well.

Memorial Service

On Sunday we visited CT to go to a Memorial Service for Rob’s uncle, who would’ve had his 50th birthday. The whole family first met at the cemetery, and had a short service at his grave, with some prayers and readings. Then we went back to Rob’s parents house and had a cookout. Despite the rain at the cemetery, it was very nice service, and by the time we got back to the house, the weather was beautiful as well.

Garden in the Woods 7/16/2011

On the way home, rob, Erica and I stopped at Garden in the Woods. I wanted to take some pictures for their photo contest (I had a new tripod I wanted to try) plus it was just a nice day to be outside.

Photos from Dad and Di’s House

We spent a few days at dad and Di’s house, after going down to see Harry Potter. I took some pictures around their house, including a whole family of turkeys that were hanging out in the yard.

Brockton Fair

This is our 4th summer in Brockton, but we had never been to the fair. Probably because it, well, doesn’t have the best reputation. but we decided since we were in Brockton on July 4th and we wanted to see the fireworks, we’d go. I’m glad we did! It was pretty crowded, and we weren’t there long, but it was fun. the ride company is the same one that does the Hebron Fair- sadly I wasn’t allowed to go on rides yet because of the surgery. But we ate fair food, watched some demolition derby, listened to some music, and enjoyed the atmosphere. The fireworks were great- I’ve never actually been that close to where they’ve been set off, it’s much more immersive when they’re right over you like that.

Not sure what this old building was. Rob said they should make it into a haunted house.
