Brockton City Hall. Took this from my car, I always feel a little weird in downtown Brockton taking pictures of buildings, and the cops (this is right next to the police station) always seem kind of suspicious. But I saw the colors with the sunset and knew I had to get a shot to HDR it.

Project 365 Day 21
January 21st, 2012
admin It’s been snowing all day. I thought I’d stop at DW and see if I could get some snow shots. Didn’t turn out well- for one, the roads weren’t plowed there so they closed the gate. I’m hoping that’s just during the storm and not all winter. Since the snow was still coming down, the visibility was pretty bad so it didn’t make for very good shots. Oh well, I’m sure we’ll get plenty more snow! It’d be perfect if I could go right after the snow stopped. I chose the gloves for my official shot for today, but I’m also adding the only shot that actual came out well. I do want to have a nice collection of season shots from DW so hopefully I can get there so more in the snow.

Brockton Fair
July 9th, 2011
admin This is our 4th summer in Brockton, but we had never been to the fair. Probably because it, well, doesn’t have the best reputation. but we decided since we were in Brockton on July 4th and we wanted to see the fireworks, we’d go. I’m glad we did! It was pretty crowded, and we weren’t there long, but it was fun. the ride company is the same one that does the Hebron Fair- sadly I wasn’t allowed to go on rides yet because of the surgery. But we ate fair food, watched some demolition derby, listened to some music, and enjoyed the atmosphere. The fireworks were great- I’ve never actually been that close to where they’ve been set off, it’s much more immersive when they’re right over you like that.

DW Field Park 7/4/2011
July 9th, 2011
admin Since we weren’t going to Boston for July 4th, we decided to stay local and have a picnic at DW Field Park. We brought some food, and sat at a picnic table in the shade. There were a few other families, but it was surprisingly quiet. We saw one of the Canada Goose babies (Canada gosling?), not fully grown but certainly bigger. We drove around the lake, and actually saw 2 of the swans together. It’s like they can sense people with food from across the lake.

Mountain Laurel
June 11th, 2011
admin I’m posting this post late, and back dating it.
My sister and I made a photobook for Mom for her birthday. I’d really wanted to get a picture of Mountain Laurel for her (she’s named after it), and we wanted to put it on the cover. Mountain Laurel is *everywhere* in CT, I never imagined it’d be hard to find here! I eventually found some at the old entrance to DW Field Park, over by Westgate. People were probably wondering what the heck I was doing over there with a camera, but I got some great pictures! The one we ended up using is the one that says “Laurel” on it.
